Originally from Australia and now living in Los Angeles, singer-songwriter Lenka spent many of her formative years alternating between art school and acting lessons. The Sydney group Decoder Ring took notice of her talents, and recruited her as its singer. She sang on two albums with Decoder Ring before adopting a gypsy-styled life that found her alternating among Australia, Europe and the U.S.
By the time Lenka moved to L.A. in 2007, her own infectious pop songs were making appearances in TV programs and commercials — most notably "The Show," a jaunty, whimsical tune about savoring the good parts of life. Her self-titled debut album was recorded both in Woodstock, N.Y., and at the Capitol Records studio in Los Angeles.
Her band — led by Lenka, who also plays keyboards — includes Erik Kertes on bass, John Graney on guitar and keyboards, Danny Levin on trumpet and keyboards and Stella Mozgawa on drums.
